About Us
It is well worth a visit.
Who We Are
The goal is simple and meaningful: sustainable collaboration with locals to understand and conserve the rich diversity around the web of life.
There are 165 local families, and over 524 species inhabit the village of Wasgamuwa. The Web of Life eco centre aims to create harmony between the two. We are small enough to take pride in intimate teaching of the surrounding biodiversity to each patron and motivated to spread the essence of our aim. We are not looking to explore biodiversity or know about the locals' way of life and be an outsider looking in.
We tell the story as insiders.
We truly dive into and understand the wildlife and fauna of the region, and we ensure that the village is a part of our story. In a world that pays little to no attention to the village's economic and educational developments, our patrons can make a difference for nature and the people… all while breathing in the freshness of a slowed-down life.
Our Team
Message from CEO
One evening a couple of years ago, as dusk made its presence known and the laughter of my family echoed in the trees of Wasgamuwa, I realized what I wanted the Web of Life to be.
This was born the vision of a place that conserved the area's rich biodiversity, created sustainable economic development for the 165 families of the village, and provided patrons with a haven away from the hustle and bustle of life.
I gathered a small team, and after a lot of hard work later, I devised a multi-week program of activities that dissolved the disconnect between nature and man. Throughout the stay, dreamers, explorers, students, and everyone in between, will have the opportunity to be part of something meaningful. We will travel into the depths of the surrounding area to study and appreciate the rich biodiversity. Additionally, we will work and brainstorm ideas to enhance the economic and educational status of the village sustainably.
The Web of Life guarantees a soul-enriching experience in conserving and giving back. It will whisk you away from what you are used to and carry you to a meaningful, ethereal peace and calm.
The Web of Life eco centre was born from a simple vision one evening, and as the years go by, I hope to share the infinite healing and assurance I have found.
